Capacity and weight changes
Choose a FAST capacity and a supported micro-weight routine
A useful FAST shortlist starts with two numbers: the heaviest weight you need now and the lightest weight you actually use. The REP × PÉPIN range starts at ten pounds in every supplied capacity. Its 65, 85, 105 and 125 lb packages change the included outer plates, rather than replacing that ten-pound starting handle with a lighter one.
Three different needs produce different shortlists
For someone whose program stays at or below sixty-five pounds per hand but may grow later, the 65 lb pair is the smallest current FAST package. The current manual explicitly includes it, even though older descriptive paragraphs still begin at eighty-five. Its cradle and plate system support the larger configurations. Confirm the correct expansion-kit quantity when buying, because the older add-on sales explanation starts from eighty-five pounds.
For a buyer who already needs ninety pounds per hand, the 85 lb pair is too small as supplied. The 105 lb pair covers that need immediately and retains one documented twenty-pound-per-hand expansion. This is a reason to distinguish today’s package from the family’s eventual capacity in the questionnaire.
For someone already using more than 105 pounds per hand, choose the 125 lb package if its minimum and adjustment routine also fit. It supplies the family’s full named endpoint. A smaller box cannot satisfy that present load merely because later plates are available.
Understand exactly what a smaller increment involves
Matching the main FAST selectors changes the outer load in ten-pound jumps. Both supplied internal 2.5 lb weights provide the balanced intermediate settings, making a five-pound progression. Reaching every step includes putting those internal weights in or taking them out. A selector movement alone does not deliver every adjacent five-pound load.
REP permits one internal micro weight and acknowledges a slight imbalance. With matching main selectors, this supplies offset selections such as 12.5, 22.5 and 32.5 pounds. A person may use those light selections and later the full balanced load on the same supplied dumbbell. The permissible routine therefore includes both types of setting, but some consecutive gaps remain five pounds. It is not a complete 2.5 lb ladder.
If equal end loads are mandatory, ignore the single-micro choices and use the balanced five-pound ladder. If an exact offset light load is essential, allow the manufacturer’s stated imbalance and keep the main selectors matched. Unequal outer selections are not part of that exception.
When QuickDraw is the more relevant comparison
The QuickDraw 60 lb pound pair starts at five pounds and uses visible switches. FAST starts at ten and uses magnetic pop-pins. Both families employ internal weights for some smaller changes, but their plates, controls and capacity limits are different. Choosing FAST for heavy rows may still leave you needing a separate lighter pair for other exercises.
The kilogram QuickDraw packages have native kilogram settings and added material in their plates. They are not pound pairs with different printed labels. Require an exact native setting when your program specifies kilograms; a nearby pound number is a different selection.
Reserve a level station and check the service parts
FAST requires flat storage and operation. Allow space for the cradles, the side selectors and the micro-weight handling routine; do not assume an angled fixed-dumbbell rack will work. The factory drawing shows a 34 mm grip and 4.9-inch hand opening. Its cradle dimensions do not establish separate lifted-body dimensions for every capacity.
Before using older or uncertain stock, consult REP about the separate selector-knob and micro-weight spring-pin service instructions. Recipients are directed to install the respective replacement parts before their next workout. Confirm the parts actually fitted to your pair, keep selectors fully engaged, and follow the manual’s assembly and inspection instructions. Buy original REP × PÉPIN-compatible components: the original PÉPIN system is expressly incompatible.
