A useful fit for

The fixed AD80 grip with supplied removable adders when their attachment conditions suit your intended movements.

The main tradeoff

The adders require separate handling and flat compatible contact. A complete balanced micro-load ladder and increased endpoint are not documented.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this package include magnetic adders and reach 80 pounds per hand using the side dial?

Yes. This exact US package includes the AD80 pair and eight 1.25 lb adders. The internal dial alone supplies the confirmed 80 lb selection.

Can this magnetic-adder package provide a starting weight of five pounds or less?

No. The documented internal minimum is 10 lb and the adders add weight; they do not establish a lighter setting.

Is a complete progression with gaps no larger than 2.5 pounds and matching end loads confirmed for this kit?

Not confirmed. The maker describes small additions but does not publish a complete balanced ladder. The internal selector alone has ten-pound gaps.

This SNODE configuration combines a pair of AD80 dumbbells with eight 1.25-pound magnetic adders. It is a meaningful package difference for someone who likes the AD80's fixed knurled grip but wants smaller additions than its internal ten-pound steps. It also adds loose pieces, attachment checks and exercise restrictions. Buy it for a routine in which those extra steps are acceptable; the magnets do not turn the side dial into a finely graduated internal selector.

What the magnetic package actually changes

The current US product selector names both a plain pair and a pair plus eight magnetic plates. This review covers the latter, identified by the maker as AD80*2+magnets. The dumbbells and cradles remain the AD80 system, whose US manual confirms the internal settings of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 pounds per hand. The supplied magnets are additional pieces, not replacement selector plates.

SNODE's accessory page describes each magnet as 1.25 pounds and says they allow 2.5- and five-pound additions. That is useful evidence that smaller additions are an intended function. It does not supply a complete table of approved, balanced assemblies across the full range. Do not base the purchase on an assumed 85-pound endpoint, a five-pound starting weight or a uniform 2.5-pound ladder. If a particular load is essential, ask SNODE for its approved placement and total for that exact arrangement before ordering.

The eight-piece quantity applies to the pair. It does not mean eight adders for each hand. The plain AD80 package remains the simpler choice if you will use the eight internal settings and leave the adders in a drawer.

Attachment limits matter as much as the added pounds

The accessory instructions call for compatible iron or cast-iron contact surfaces, full flat contact and avoidance of rubber surfaces. They warn against directly hitting or pushing an attached magnet and advise against equipment that swings quickly, frequently or through large angles. That makes exercise selection part of the decision. A secure-looking photograph is not permission to use the adders on every movement you can perform with the bare dumbbell.

The maker lists the pieces as 2.32 inches in diameter and 1.18 inches thick. Consider those projections when comparing hand clearance and contact with your body or bench. The plain dumbbell's published dimensions cannot describe every attached arrangement. Keep the pieces together in a deliberate storage location, follow the edge-groove removal instructions and keep them away from the electronic devices named in the manufacturer's precautions. These are small accessories to manage between sets, not invisible extra capacity.

The same side-dial selection routine underneath

The AD80 uses a dial beside the grip while the grip stays fixed. That differs from turning the whole handle on a NÜOBELL or Core Home Fitness dumbbell. Seat the AD80 fully in its cradle, align the plates and center the chosen number until it clicks. The manual also requires a first-workout check of the individual settings and their plate attachment. Never force the selector while the dumbbell is outside its base.

The magnet instructions are separate from the manual's internal plate assembly. An attached adder does not change the number displayed by the internal selector into a total-weight readout. Keep track of the chosen internal setting and the approved additions separately. If multiple people share the pair, everyone needs to recognize which configuration is present before lifting it.

Grip and storage need a separate fit check

SNODE specifies a knurled metal grip 36 mm in diameter and 115 mm long. The fixed, open grip may appeal to someone who dislikes a cage around the hand, but a thick grip is not automatically comfortable for every user. Compare the dimensions with a dumbbell you already hold comfortably. Magnets do not solve a handle-size mismatch.

The bare dumbbell is listed at 18.11 by 6.68 by 6.68 inches. Each cradle is longer, at 19.31 inches, and is listed at 15.3 pounds. Allow space for both cradles, accessible controls and the magnetic pieces. A rack or bench shown elsewhere in SNODE's catalogue is not included by this package name. The cast-iron parts also need the alignment, cleaning and V-groove maintenance described in the manual.

Compare a built-in small-step system before buying

This kit suits an owner who specifically wants the AD80's fixed-handle design and accepts removable adders for selected, manufacturer-approved uses. It is less compelling when every set needs a predictable small step with no loose accessory handling. The NÜOBELL 580 supplies a documented five-pound ladder through 80 pounds. The PowerBlock Pro 100 EXP 80 knurled configuration uses selector pins and internal micro weights instead. For manual plate loading with explicitly documented half-step arrangements, compare the Ironmaster Original 75. Choose among those routines first, then compare the maximum capacity each actual package supplies.
