NÜOBELL original or S series: choose the complete configuration

NÜO's current US factory range contains two original models and two S-series models. Start with the weight you need today, then compare the actual grip opening and upgrade route. A color choice, a stand and an optional future kit answer different questions from the supplied dumbbell's capacity.

For a present ceiling of 50 pounds

The original NÜOBELL 550 supplies five through 50 pounds in five-pound steps. It is the smaller original-series configuration, with a listed 105-millimeter grip length and a 32-millimeter diameter. A user who needs no more than 50 now can preserve a documented later route: NÜO's original expansion kit expressly converts the 550 to a complete 580, supplying additional weights and longer cradles.

The kit is not included in the smaller pair's present maximum. If you need 60 pounds immediately, selecting “future expansion required” does not make the 550 satisfy that load today. The difference matters especially when matching a new purchase against an existing exercise plan.

For 60 pounds with the newer S arrangement

The S 560 provides five through 60 pounds and a listed 110-millimeter grip length. NÜO describes a revised handle, four shifting half plates and stainless-steel V-connectors. Those component changes distinguish the S series from the original 550/580.

The user selections are still five pounds apart. Four internal half plates do not create a 7.5-pound setting. Choose another confirmed ladder if an exact half step matters. The S 560's own expansion kit is expressly described as converting it to S 5100; the original-series kit is a separate compatibility route.

When 80 or 100 pounds is needed now

The original 580 supplies sixteen selections through 80 pounds. It retains the original series' listed 105-millimeter grip. The S 5100 supplies twenty selections through 100 pounds with the S-series 110-millimeter grip and mechanism. Compare them as complete supplied models, rather than combining the smaller pair's footprint with a larger kit's maximum.

The maker explicitly names a completed 550-plus-original-kit arrangement as 580, and a completed S560-plus-S-kit arrangement as S5100. Those conversions lead to the named larger models; they are not additional unrelated dumbbells to count separately. Cross-series expansion is not established by either statement.

Use measurements that describe the same thing

The factory pages publish product dimensions, but do not separately identify bare-dumbbell dimensions and cradled envelopes. A different retailer may publish a number using a different convention. Ask which assembly a measurement covers before deciding that one pair clears a narrow bench space while another does not.

The cradles also need working room, not just shelf space. Every change requires returning the handle to a fully seated position. Unused plates stay at the station, even when a smaller selection is lifted. Keep room to seat, lift and move around both stations.

Make the shortlist from one real set of conditions

For 50 pounds today plus a supported original-series upgrade, start with 550. For 60 today, a five-pound floor and the S-series upgrade path, start with S560. For an already necessary 100-pound maximum, compare the complete S5100 directly with alternatives such as the 100-pound Pro 100 EXP. Their selection and micro-weight routines differ.

Whichever model fits, retain the manufacturer's engagement checks, cradle operation and impact restrictions. A convenient selector does not remove the locking mechanism's inspection requirements, and a larger maximum does not guarantee a better fit for your session.
