A useful fit for

Sixty pounds now, a textured metal handle and a staged future upgrade.

The main tradeoff

The weight ladder has five-pound gaps and the micro weights add a separate adjustment step. Stages 3 and 4 are not supplied.

Your needs, this model

The Pro 100 EXP knurled sixty-pound pair occupies a useful middle position: it supplies the first expansion now, while retaining the official route to eighty and one hundred pounds later. That can be a better purchase shape than buying a forty-pound pair and immediately ordering another box. It remains a particular package with particular weights, rather than a promise that every Pro 100 listing includes one hundred pounds per hand.

Sixty pounds includes Stage 2

The official US selector calls this Knurled / 60 LBS, SKU 750-00329-00. PowerBlock sells it as a pair and identifies Stage 2 as included. The owner's manual explains the assembly: the forty-pound Stage 1 nest sits inside the compatible Stage 2 plates, raising the maximum to sixty pounds per dumbbell. Stages 3 and 4 are further purchases, not contents of this version.

Starting weight remains five pounds with the handle's two micro weights removed. One 2.5-pound micro weight produces a 7.5-pound handle, and both produce ten. With the plate nest, the published selections near the upper end are 45, 47.5, 50, 55, 57.5 and 60. This is not a continuous ladder of every possible half step: 52.5 is absent. Plan around the actual selections you use.

Grip choice and change speed are separate decisions

This version supplies knurled stainless steel, rather than the cushioned TPR option on the same product page. The manufacturer lists a 38 mm grip diameter and a 4.88-inch grip length for the knurled model. Compare those dimensions with a handle you already like, especially if you are moving from a thinner fixed dumbbell. A textured surface does not compensate for a diameter that does not suit your hands.

For a plate change, reposition the tethered magnetic pin at the correct rail. For a micro adjustment, remove the handle and change the internal weights using the Auto Lock lever. These are two different tasks. If most changes in your session stay on the main plate settings, the pin arrangement is straightforward; if you repeatedly alternate between a full handle and a partially unloaded one, include that extra handling in your decision.

The practical meaning of further expansion

Stage 3 raises this package to eighty pounds, and Stage 4 completes the one-hundred-pound system. The manual requires the stages in order and limits the expansion kits to the Pro 100 EXP family. Its availability of dedicated barbell and kettlebell attachments is another ecosystem consideration, but those attachments are not supplied by this dumbbell package and do not make another PowerBlock generation compatible.

Consider the forty-pound knurled pair when sixty pounds would mostly sit unused. Choose the eighty-pound package if your current exercises already require more than sixty. The Elite USA 70 offers a different grip diameter and a ninety-pound family ceiling; it is a meaningful alternative rather than another name for this system.

A usable station needs access around the stack

Position the two nests on a stable supported surface with room to insert the pins and lift the handles straight up. The manual warns against turning a handle sideways during removal. An optional stand can change the height of the pickup point, but it also needs its own floor space and exact compatibility check. The page's fully expanded dimensions should not be treated as a verified measurement of this sixty-pound configuration.

Before lifting, fully engage the pin and confirm its magnetic blocks contact the proper rails. Keep its tether attached and intact. Return a jammed or incorrectly selected assembly to the nest and correct it; do not work around a selector problem by forcing it. The manual also prohibits dropping or knocking the dumbbells together.

Best fit and limits

This pair suits a household that needs sixty pounds now, prefers a substantial metal grip, and values a staged upgrade over replacing the entire pair. It is less persuasive when exact missing intermediate weights matter or when softer handles are essential. Maintenance includes inspection, gentle wiping and attention to loose or worn parts. Neither the residential warranty nor the urethane coating is a guarantee against damage from impacts, and this product should be identified by its EXP model and supplied stages when checking listings or recall information.
