A useful fit for

A five-pound-start pair for someone who values 2.5 lb selections through 25 lb, the curved profile and documented Media Rack compatibility.

The main tradeoff

Most listed gaps above 25 lb are 5 lb, the 52.5 lb ceiling is fixed, and the exact US manual identity remains unbridged.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I reach 52.5 pounds per hand, start at five, and stay within a 17-inch listed length?

Yes. The Results 552 page lists a five-pound floor, 52.5-pound maximum and 16.9-inch full-load length. Its 2.5-pound choices end at 25 pounds, so the largest later gaps are five pounds.

Will the older SelectTech Stand with Media Rack fit this exact curved Results pair?

BowFlex lists Results 552 as compatible with the Media Rack. The newer SelectTech Adjustable Dumbbell Stand is a separate accessory.

Can this supplied pair cover a 90-pound per-hand requirement?

No. The Results 552 is listed through 52.5 pounds; the 90-pound Results 1090 or 90 is a separate supplied configuration.

The BowFlex Results Series 552 is the compact-profile member of BowFlex’s current four-dumbbell SelectTech lineup. Its U.S. product page identifies model SKU ZMK4011008 and lists a pair, two storage trays, a side-dial selector and 15 loads per dumbbell from 5 to 52.5 pounds. That range is useful for someone who wants one easy-to-store pair rather than a row of fixed weights, but its ladder is not uniformly fine: 2.5-pound steps reach 25 pounds, then most of the climb uses five-pound jumps.

Check the actual ladder before counting on a number

The listed sequence is 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 52.5 pounds per hand. The half steps below 25 pounds are a real distinction if an exercise feels too heavy after a five-pound jump. Above 25, that fine rhythm mostly ends: there is no listed 27.5, 32.5 or 37.5 setting. The 50-to-52.5 ending is an exception, not evidence of a complete half-step ladder at every weight.

The start matters too. Five pounds is the smallest published selection, so this is not a choice for someone who needs an exact three- or four-pound start. In the site's finder, a capacity answer checks that the supplied pair reaches the load in each hand; an exact-weight answer checks the actual setting list. Asking for a 52.5-pound ceiling and a five-pound maximum gap can include this pair, while a 2.5-pound maximum gap cannot. Those are different needs, even though both may be described casually as “incremental.”

A curved plate profile, in a shorter listed envelope

BowFlex describes the 552 as a curved dumbbell shape with tapered plates, rather than the traditional uniform plate profile of the Results Series 52. The listed per-dumbbell envelope is 16.9 inches long by 8.3 inches wide by 9 inches high. That length is 1.6 inches shorter than the 52’s published length, but a printed maximum-load envelope is not a guarantee that every selected arrangement has the same clearance. Allow room to lift the pair out of its trays and return it squarely.

The current product page calls the included grip non-slip; it does not establish that the surface is a soft TPR grip or a particular knurl. Do not infer a hand feel from the rendering. BowFlex lists two years of parts coverage for the Results 552. Its two trays are included; a stand is not.

Stand compatibility is an actual model difference

The product listing names BowFlex’s newer SelectTech Adjustable Dumbbell Stand as a separate compatible accessory. BowFlex’s support article for the older SelectTech Dumbbell Stand with Media Rack specifically lists Results Series 552 and 1090 as compatible, while excluding the 52 and 90. If you already own that Media Rack, this is one of the two models in this four-piece family with documented fit. Do not treat the two BowFlex stands as interchangeable accessories or assume that a generic stand fits from a product photo.

Keep this Results SKU separate from recalled legacy 552s

“552” alone is not a safe model identification. BowFlex’s current recall page distinguishes the recalled earlier 552 product from the Results Series replacement listing. The new U.S. product page identifies this package as Results Series SKU ZMK4011008; the recall page separately directs customers to Results Series replacements. A used dumbbell labeled only “552,” missing its model details or assembled from mixed parts should not be treated as this current SKU. Follow BowFlex and CPSC instructions for any unit whose identity is uncertain.

There is an important documentation limit. The accessible global guide is titled 552i, not the exact U.S. Results Series SKU, and its text has internal setting/handle-weight conflicts. The exact U.S. product page is the evidence for the 5–52.5-pound ladder and published dimensions; I do not transfer the guide’s conflicting 10–90-pound passage or use it as a verified U.S. troubleshooting recipe. Keep the instructions supplied with the actual unit and contact BowFlex support rather than trying an undocumented adjustment or repair.

Who should shortlist it?

Choose the Results 552 when its lower starting load, half-step choices through 25 pounds, tapered shape, shorter listed length and Media Rack compatibility all fit your routine. Compare the Results Series 52 if you want the same nominal capacity and listed ladder in a traditional uniform-plate shape; it is longer and does not fit the Media Rack. For more load, the Results 1090 and Results 90 reach 90 pounds but start at 10. A PowerBlock Pro 50 or REP QuickDraw pair offers another selector routine if BowFlex’s listed settings or unresolved manual bridge do not suit your needs.
