A useful fit for

Home sessions that use five-pound steps and return the pair to stable cradle stations for each change.

The main tradeoff

No documented half-step settings or upgrade beyond this package; exact grip alloy and a bare full-load envelope need confirmation.

The SMRTFT NÜOBELL 80 suits a home setup where changing between exercises needs to be straightforward and 80 pounds per hand is enough. The supplied pair covers 5–80 pounds in sixteen five-pound selections, with a separate cradle for each dumbbell. Those cradles are part of the adjustment system, so plan a permanent place for them rather than treating them as packaging to put away.

Classic Black and Tactical are the two current finish listings assessed here. Both specify the same supplied range, selection method and package. The useful decision is the load range and handling routine; the color does not add another weight setting or a different progression ladder.

Check the middle of the range as carefully as the ceiling

A five-pound starting selection makes this a more flexible pair than one whose empty handle begins at ten pounds. It can cover lighter accessory work as well as exercises using most of the stack. Each next selection still adds five pounds to one hand. Moving from ten to fifteen pounds is a much larger proportional change than moving from seventy to seventy-five, even though the dial movement is identical.

There is no documented 7.5- or 12.5-pound selection in this package. If those loads are important to exercises you already perform, a larger maximum will not solve the missing step. Compare the supplied weight ladder of a PowerBlock Pro 100 EXP configuration, including its removable adder-weight routine, or an Ironmaster Quick-Lock package whose smaller steps involve handling plates. Choose the process you will actually use between sets.

Make returning to the cradles part of the exercise sequence

Weight selection uses a turn of the handle while the dumbbell is seated in its cradle. Plates that are not selected remain there. This is useful when several people share one pair or when a session alternates between a heavier pulling movement and a lighter accessory exercise. You do need to return each dumbbell to its own station before making the change.

SMRTFT's original two-page unpacking guide illustrates arranging the plates in the proper direction, placing the handle into the cradle and checking that normal handle force selects the weight smoothly. It also calls for centered, matching selection numbers and correctly attached plates before use. A selector that resists movement is a reason to check the documented setup, rather than to force the handle or attempt adjustment away from the cradle.

Place the stations on a flat, dry, stable surface with room to approach them and set both dumbbells down. A compatible stand is a separate purchase. Count the stand, any surrounding clearance and the route from the bench when judging how much floor space the pair needs.

Try the open grip and verify a tight space directly

The listed 32 mm knurled grip gives a useful starting point for a hands-on fit check. Try a comparable handle diameter and consider how your fingers meet the adjacent end structures in the positions you use. Knurling describes the surface; it does not establish that its texture will feel comfortable to every user.

SMRTFT publishes a 17 × 7.5 × 7.5 inch envelope and a 4.3 inch grip-zone figure. The source does not clearly separate a bare dumbbell from its cradled envelope, and the grip-zone specification differs from the factory's separately branded original-series listing. For a narrow rack or a close hand-clearance requirement, ask for the measurement on the exact supplied SMRTFT version. The dimensions of another NÜOBELL offer should not be used as a fit guarantee.

The product specifications call the grip aluminum, while another comparison panel calls it steel. Knurling and diameter are consistently stated; the exact alloy needs confirmation if it matters to you. This does not change the published weight ladder, but it limits what can be promised about the material.

Choose a controlled set-down routine

The original instructions require inspection before use, prohibit using worn or damaged parts, and say to set the dumbbells down gently. They also prohibit dropping, allowing the dumbbells to strike each other and attempting disassembly without support instructions. These are meaningful ownership conditions for an adjustable mechanism.

The standard warranty page covers specified defects during normal residential use and excludes impact damage and commercial use. Optional SMRTCARE terms describe a limited replacement benefit under particular conditions. Buying that protection does not turn the dumbbells into equipment intended for deliberate dropping. Confirm the current terms with the seller and retain the exact product and order information for support.

Where the 80-pound pair makes sense

Choose this configuration when five-pound changes fit your exercises, an open knurled handle suits your hand and you can make every adjustment at a stable cradle station. The SMRTFT 100-pound pair supplies four additional selections when the higher ceiling is needed now. This assessment does not establish a kit that converts the SMRTFT 80 into that larger package.

If finer low-end changes, a different grip shape or a different adjustment process matter more than the 80-pound maximum, compare those requirements first in the finder. A range that fits the whole session is more useful than a ceiling used only occasionally.
